Location: Cincinnati, OH
Role Summary The Security Engineer will work closely with the current security services team to provide telephone support and consulting services, reporting directly to the Practice Manager - Support Services. .
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide telephone technical support to customers on a variety of network security products including firewalls, VPNs, authentication, intrusion detection, anti-virus, load-balancing, and web filtering
- Support the sales process of support services
- Assess and design secure network architectures to provide recommendations to clients
- Expected to be 75% revenue billable with the remaining time devoted to administration and ongoing education and professional development
- Some overnight travel and shift work will be required
- On-call support work will be required
- Provide weekly time and status reports
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Experience on both Microsoft & Unix operating systems
- Experience with TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting
- Experience with network routers and switches
- Solid knowledge of security systems; including firewalls, IDS/IPS, authentication systems, anti-virus, content filtering, log management, etc.
- Intermediate to advanced security, system, and network troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Solid report writing skills with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and practical security knowledge
- 1-2 years in industry experience and strong security exposure
- 2+ years of network or system administration with exposure to Windows server, Unix servers and networking systems
